| By Program Chairman Cheryl Sykora Now that everyone is in the process of putting their bonsai to bed for the winter, the November meeting topic will get you thinking about changes to the garden and bonsai display for next spring. One of the best managed Japanese gardens anywhere (including Japan) is located on the grounds of Minnesota’s own Carleton College. The garden was designed by David S. Lawson. At our November 7th meeting, a DVD titled “IN FULL CIRCLE” will be shown, which highlights the Carleton College garden and identifies key principles of Japanese-style gardens. If you have been thinking about a bonsai display, this is the video to see to complement your display and get you started for next spring’s work. Before the program there will be a short business meeting of announcements and to call for final nominations for 2007 board of directors. Voting will be in December. Remember that our meetings now begin at 7 o'clock! Come even earlier to watch the vendors set up their wares (and to pick and buy the best stuff), to see what our refreshments chairman Bob Eschbach is setting out (don't forget to feed the kitty here) - then visit Laura at the library table for some bonsai education to take home for a month. Last but not least, stop by the raffle table to see what you could win with a lucky 50-cent ticket. |
