| For the November general meeting, Glenda Jungquist will be showing us the DVD FINDING THE BONSAI WITHIN by Andy Smith of Golden Arrow Bonsai. Finding the bonsai in difficult trees - trees that are oddly shaped, too long, or just plain ugly - is the job of a true bonsai artist. Andy Smith transforms three of the ugliest trees from his vast collection in this 98-minute DVD. In the process he demonstrates many useful techniques, including a unique way to bend heavy branches. Excellent instruction for the experienced enthusiast and the daring beginner. Andy's description from his online catalog: "Our newest DVD ... focuses on wiring ponderosa pine, with lots of up-close looks at basic techniques for shaping raw material into bonsai." We will also cover in a brief business meeting before the program: 1) Voting to rescind our prior vote. The election ballot will then be set for voting in December. |
