Program chairman Cheryl Sykora says: "Late winter, early spring as your trees are starting to push growth or are still trapped in nursery soil is the time to think repotting.  The topic for the March Meeting is Potting Mixes.  We are going to have a short discussion on the many available components and then open it up for discussion on what you use and how it works for you.  Soilless mixes vs organic mixes, etc.  This is the time to get advice from others who have already been there/done that concerning any particularly difficult repotting you have coming up.  Club members who mix and sell potting mixes are encouraged to join the discussion."

But first we'll have a visitor during the "business portion" of the meeting - none other than Jack Douthitt from Milwaukee, who has visited before when he brought along his beautiful book Bonsai, The Art of Living Sculpture. This visit, he'll be talking about the June 22-25 MABA Symposium in Milwaukee.

You might want to read up on the details ahead of time at this web link:
Symposium
so you can
reserve a hotel room at the Four Points Sheraton's special price ($109 for up to 4 adults), register for yourself and a companion at only $300 for both (until March 1), and then go on to investigate the other sights Milwaukee has to offer:  The Art Museum whose winged roof closes at night, the brewery tours, the incomparable sausages of Usinger's (since the 1870s) and more. There will be something for everyone in Milwaukee in June!
