| Come at 7:00 PM on July 3 for an unusual program - a Bonsai Swap Meet. Many other clubs have swap meets on a regular basis, but I can't recall our club holding one. Bring things that you are tired of -- surplus items, extra trees or stock plants. "One person's trash is another's treasure." How many stories have you heard where someone took home an "impossible" plant -- from a nursery, silent auction, or collected from the wild -- and a couple of years later had turned it into a nice bonsai? Swapping sound like fun to you? Go out in the yard and pick out a plant or a dozen that you don't need - check the garage shelves for items you'll never use. Then bring it all to the meeting where you can shop around the room for possible trades. |

| WHERE'S THE PICNIC? Bob Hampel, our Picnic Host Extraordinaire, says he's been saving up roadkill all summer, and will have it ready from the grill around 2:00 PM on picnic day, July 28. For activities, he has rounded up several rubber mallets and croquet sticks for a new game called "Club the Rodents." A prize will go to the person mashing the most chipmunks, pocket gophers, 13-stripe ground squirrels, moles, voles, or other tunneling vermin.
