| The August 1st general meeting will be a presentation on preparing bonsai trees for show display - emphasis will be on our State Fair show coming up Sept. 1-2. We encourage everyone to exhibit a tree and to SIGN UP to help with Fair show setup on Thursday evening, or to work a 3-hour shift on Friday or Saturday at the show. You don't need experience to answer the public's questions, and you'll be surprised how much fun it is and how much you LEARN by joining fellow members at the Fair. Remember, you'll get a FREE FAIR TICKET for volunteering! For newer exhibitors, we have the Novice class for those with less than 3 years of bonsai experience. Pick up entry forms at the meeting, or get them at the show site on setup night. Bring your tree(s) in after 10 pm on Aug. 31, enter at the So. Underwood Gate on Como Ave. You won't need a ticket after 10:00 to drive in to the Horticulture Bldg. Come early (7:00) to the meeting, to SIGN UP to work with Bonsai Boon, who will be here over Labor Day weekend for our club workshops. Have a tree that needs professional help? This will be your last chance for the year, so stop at the sign-up table to see if there are still openings to work with Boon or to observe the workshop. Then VISIT the vendors, the library, the raffle table, and the coffee 'n cookies counter (leave a tip when you fill up - we'll need more for next month). |
