Club Workshops (sometimes called Master Workshops) are held on a Spring weekend and again in Fall during the State Fair, to coincide with visits by the teachers (masters) that come here for workshops and to give a presentation or demonstration at the general meeting.
Workshops are split between morning sessions (10am - 1pm) and afternoon sessions (2 - 5pm) and are held at Como Conservatory education facilities. The cost varies and the number of participants is limited -- or you may attend as a silent observer for a smaller fee. These workshops are for club members only, and students bring their own tools and materials. Sometimes the raw tree material is supplied, at extra cost.
Club Workshops provide a rare opportunity to work with a knowledgable "bonsai master." The teachers that the Board selects have broad and varied experience, and often have studied in Japan, China, or Europe. Each master brings with them a unique perspective that deepens our understanding of this ancient art. The advanced techniques and experience that may be gained by such an opportunity should not be missed. |
