| Some of the benefits of MBS membership: - The Society offers monthly meetings which include exciting programs, demonstrations, and talks about various aspects of bonsai art and horticulture. We meet on the first Tuesday of each month, except January and July, at 7:00 p.m. in the basement of Hamline United Methodist Church in St. Paul. Meetings are open to the public, and ample on- and off-street parking is available. (Map) - Our monthly newsletter is now online, telling what's happening on the local bonsai scene in the coming month, with photo-stories of recent bonsai events, and more. - To help new members get involved during their first year, the Bonsai Basics Class meets on the third Tuesday evening of the month and is led by experienced club members. These informal gatherings are very hands-on, with a different topic covered each month. (Map) - Novice Workshops are held two weekends a year as a hands-on introduction to the art of bonsai and are open to the public and MBS members. - Members enjoy the club workshops conducted by national and international bonsai teachers, in spring and fall. Intermediate-level workshops are informal and usually held in summer, taught by experienced club members. - Society members have access to one of the most extensive bonsai libraries in the nation, including books, magazines, and a selection of videotapes. - Other club activities include members' garden tours, spring and fall bonsai shows, and social activities such as our summer picnic and the annual dinner in January.
